In almost all products in our everyday lives are controlled by embedded computers. These systems are becoming increasingly more intelligent in order to satisfy the users' needs. Intelligent embedded systems belong to the future and here you can learn how to design them. After your studies you can work as an engineer, project manager, system architect or programmer.

The programme

The Master’s programme in Intelligent Embedded Systems is a two-year programme at second-cycle level, where you learn to develop safe and reliable systems that can learn from and adapt to their surroundings.

The programme content is developed together with companies to guarantee that you obtain skills requested by the industry. Your teachers are world-leading experts within the field and the courses in the programme embrace the latest theory and practice within the areas of embedded systems, artificial intelligence and robotics.

The theoretical parts are interspersed with practical parts that are done in collaboration with companies in the industry, such as ABB, Bombardier transportations, Ericsson and Volvo CE. The collaboration involves guest lectures, student projects, mentoring and internships. In addition, you have the opportunity to use corporate equipment from some of our business partners.

As a student at this programme you have good opportunities to study abroad, as the university has several exchange agreements. For example, with the top-ranked research university Technical University of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Some of the exchange agreements also give you the opportunity to obtain a double master's degree. Partly from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and partly from one of our partner universities in the Nordic countries, through the NISS-program.

Employment and Future Prospects

The market for intelligent embedded systems is enormous and the industry’s need of experts in the area is constantly increasing. On completion of the programme you will be very much in demand in the national and international labour market. Both as a well-qualified expert at companies and as a doctoral student in the higher education.

With a master’s degree in intelligent embedded systems you can make a career as an engineer, project manager, system architect, programmer or a researcher in the areas of robotics, telecommunications, process control, home electronics and the car industry.

    Specific requirements

    A completed Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education of three years or more, equivalent to 180 credits, of which at least 30 credits are within computer engineering, computer science or electronics including programming corresponding to 15 credits. At least 22,5 credits in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics are required. A TOEFL test result, with a minimum score of 575 with a TWE score of at least 4.5 (PBT) or 90 with a TWE score of at least 20 (iBT) or an IELTS test result with an overall band score of at least 6.5 and no band score below 5.5 or equivalent is required.
