Description of the project

The goal is to increase the scientific and industrial applicability of knowledge concerning maintenance, with the aim to increase productivity, reduce production costs and to generate valuable input for improved engineering design of products and production. The objective of the project is to:

  • Develop an approach that can help integrate maintenance needs at the engineering design stage such as Design for (or out) maintenance, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Supportability) integration to optimize the total life cycle costs (LCC) for the products.
  • Develop theoretical models to understand and forecast the cost productivity for all investments made towards maintenance cost of manual and automatic machines such as LHD machines. (Load Haul Dump machines).
  • To develop flexible decision making models, methods and techniques for implementation of sensor and experience based condition monitoring in manufacturing.
  • Develop an approach for condition based maintenance agents and diagnostics for manufacturing systems so as to make the manufacturing process disturbance free to achieve higher product quality and productivity and a cycle of continuous improvement.
