Industry 4.0 technologies are transforming the industrial landscape and manufacturing companies need to keep pace with them to remain competitive. This course is for those who want to know more about the enabling technologies of Industry 4.0.

This course is designed specifically for those working in the manufacturing sector. It provides you with basic knowledge of the terminology related to Industry 4.0 as well as insight and understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and how it is set to affect industry and individuals. On completing the course, you will have a conceptual understanding of key terms and technologies related to Industry 4.0. The course will be given by prominent lecturers from different fields in the system landscape related to Industry 4.0.

  • Introduction to the main Industry 4.0 technologies
  • The economic drivers for implementing Industry 4.0 technologies
  • The production and development engineer’s role in the development of future production systems
  • The impact of digitalisation on industry and individual

What you will learn

  • Understand the impact of digitalisation on industry and humans in daily life both now and in the future
  • Gain a basic understanding of key terms and technologies, and potential benefits, (Vertical and Horizontal Integration, XR, VR, AR, Additive Manufacturing, AI, IoT, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, Robotics)
  • Know the economic drivers for implementing Industry 4.0 technologies

Entry requirements

30 credits in Engineering/Technology and at least 2 years’ experience in full-time employment in a relevant area within industry.

You can also apply for the course and get your eligibility evaluated based on knowledge acquired in other ways, such as work experience, other studies etc.
