Annaliina Gynne - about me

My name is Annaliina Gynne. I hold a PhD in Didactics/Education and I am currently a Lecturer in Swedish/Swedish as a second language at the School of Education, Culture and Communication, Mälardalen University.

I defended my doctoral thesis Languaging and Social Positioning in Multilingual School Practices - Studies of Sweden Finnish Middle School Years on September 2, 2016. Faculty examiner was Professor Fritjof Sahlström, Åbo Akademi/University of Helsinki. The thesis consists of four studies and an introductory part and it can be downloaded here .

The thesis was framed within a research project called "Doing Identity in and through Multilingual Literacy Practices". You can read more about the project or choose the link "Research-DIMUL" in the menu.

During the academic year 2016-2017 I will do research in the project LOOP , which focuses on teachers' communicative practices in virtual and physical classrooms. I am also a coordinator for commissioned education concerning the learning of the newly arrived and a regional coordinator of this work for municipalities. During the fall term, I teach the course Migration and cultural encounters.

During the spring term 2014 I was a visiting doctoral student at the Language and Superdiversity: (Dis)identification in social media research group at Jyväskylä University, Finland.
