Annaliina Gynne - about me

My name is Annaliina Gynne and I am Lecturer in Swedish as a second language. Currently, I also function as an external collaboration specialist (samverkanslektor) at the School of Education, Culture and Communication, Mälardalen University. 

I am one of the founding members of the MIND (Mälardalen Interaction and Didactics) Research Group. My recent research (2017-2019) has dealt with translanguaging as a resource in upper secondary school's multilingual classrooms. Of this project you can find more information here and here .  

During the academic year 2016-2017 I conducted research in the project  LOOP , which focused on teachers' communicative practices in virtual and physical classrooms.

In 2016, I defended my doctoral thesis Languaging and Social Positioning in Multilingual School Practices - Studies of Sweden Finnish Middle School Years. Faculty examiner was Professor Fritjof Sahlström, Åbo Akademi/University of Helsinki. The thesis consists of four studies and an introductory part and it was framed within a research project called "Doing Identity in and through Multilingual Literacy Practices". 

Courses I teach include Migration and cultural encounters, Second language acquisition, Learning through a second language and Research on teaching, learning and assessment in the multilingual classroom. I supervise degree projects both within and beoynd teacher education programmes. I am also Regional Coordinator regional coordinator of municipalities' work with newly arrived students. This is a commissioned task from the Swedish National Agency for Education.
