Students' Robot Submarines in Gladiator-Themed Competition

A group of students from Mälardalen university compete with an underwater robot that they have built, in the 15th International RoboSub Competition, July 17-22, in San Diego.

The RoboSub Competition finals will be on July 22. A live broadcast can be seen on the AUVSI website (external link)

THe robots compete in performing a number of underwater tasks such as traversing an obstacle course and dropping markers within a predetermined "gladiator ring" area.

This year's competing teams include groups from University of California, U.S. Naval Academy, Canada's Ecole de Technologie Superieure, Japan's Kyushu Institute of Technology among others. And of course Mälardalen University.
