On account of Paul Pettersson’s appointment as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor, the University Board is also appointing a new Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor. At an extra Board meeting on 28 January it was decided that Peter Gustafsson is to become the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor from 1 February.

As Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor Peter Gustafsson will step into Paul Pettersson’s place when the latter is not on duty, and Peter will stand in for Paul to the extent that they agree on.

- It feels good that the Board has taken this decision. Peter’s experience of educational matters and his knowledge of MDH mean that he is well suited for the assignment. Now we, together with the others in the University Management, can ensure that MDH’s work continues with the same quality, says Paul Pettersson.

Peter Gustafsson is Professor of Physics with specialisation in Physics Didactics. He has worked at MDH since 1993, then with the task of educating Bachelors of Science in Physics. During his time at MDH he has also been Director of Studies, Head of the then Department of Mathematics and Physics, Dean of the School of Education, Culture and Communication, and now most recently Pro-Dean for First- and Second-cycle Education. Peter Gustafsson is married, has two grown-up daughters, and he lives in Uppsala.

Since the post of Pro-Dean for First- and Second-cycle Education now becomes vacant, MDH needs to hold a by-election for a Pro-Dean. This will take place as soon as possible.

The person appointed as Pro-Dean will hold this post for the time remaining of the Faculty Board’s term of office, which is until the end of the year. During the autumn a regular election of a new Faculty Board will take place, exactly as planned.
