A few weeks ago, Björn Lisper, a professor in computer science at IDT and Marcelo Santos, a PhD student at IDT received the Best Paper Award at the Conference Workshop on compositional Theory and Technology for Real-Time Embedded Systems, Vienna, for their article "Sequential composition of execution time distribution by convolution." Co-author of the article is Veronica Lima and George Lima.

The article is about time analysis of component-based software for embedded systems. What is unique in the article is that Björn and Marcelo examined the validity of the assumptions often made at this kind of analysis because they simplify the analysis.
- We have investigated whether these assumptions are really valid in practice, and our results suggest that they often actually are reasonable, but that there are cases where you should beware, says Björn Lisper.

For the future, this research group to continue working in the field.
