Welcome to the docent lecture of Sebastian Schwede. The ttle of the lecture is "Why socialism? Towards a sustainable society".
The 20th century was characterised by significant growth of economy and a substantial increase in population and number of McDonalds restaurants. From a todays perspective, the extent of human impact resulted in the proposal of a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, and its most recent period of “The Great Acceleration”. During the lecture, Sebastian Schwede will focus on the environmental and socioeconomic impact of the Anthropocene and discuss strategies on how to shift to a more sustainable society.
Sebastian works today as a Senior Researcher and Lecturer in environmental engineering at Mälardalen University. His research focuses on energy and nutrient recovery of municipal and industrial waste streams and the supply of bioenergy from biomass.
