The programme in Work Life Studies gives you a broad and in-depth perspective of work and introduces current perspectives on the development of organisations and management. You will develop knowledge of work environment and health as well as of health-promoting leadership and health-related efforts at the workplace.

The programme

The programme will give you an understanding of the development of Work Life Studies and the challenges it faces during digitalisation and globalisation. Work Life Studies include social and psychological processes in work and of the conditions and opportunities in working life over time – from the individual, workplace, organisational and societal perspectives. The importance of work for the development, wellbeing and health of people is a key factor of the programme.

You will study Work Life Studies against the background of the broader area of health and welfare. Issues concerning equality and participation, professional knowledge and development as well as creativity and innovation are in focus. You will also develop your understanding of leadership, groups and organisations as well as evidence-based praxis and evaluation. The programme is given in English and you will read the courses in Health and Welfare together with students from other Master’s programmes and research studies. The programme runs for two years but may be completed after one year with a Master’s degree of 60 credits.

A good knowledge of Work Life Studies is a key factor in all future careers in management and organisation as well as the promotion of health and wellbeing, nationally and internationally. Knowledge acquired in the programme will give you good skills for working within a number of organisations and sectors, and the opportunity to develop your present work.
