Master's programme in Software Engineering
In today's digital society, modern software is increasingly demanding. Therefore, the need for highly educated experts in software engineering is constantly increasing, both nationally and internationally. In this programme you will learn how to develop and maintain high-quality software systems, which is invaluable for future programmers, project managers and technical specialists.
It is one of the best choices of my life! The courses are well-planned and offer you the possibility to put in use the acquired knowledge in real life situations.
Software engineering constitutes an increasingly important area of computer science and deals with designing and developing high-quality software systems. Many modern systems must be available from a variety of platforms, be configurable for different users and continuously improved and expanded with new features. In this program you will learn methods to effectively develop and maintain software that meets stringent quality, and e.g. safety requirements.
During the programme you will develop knowledge of the principles for designing, analysing and implementing complex software systems. You will gain an understanding of the methods and techniques of software development and learn to apply these.
The theoretical parts of the programme are interspersed with practical applications in collaboration with industry. For example, there will be an opportunity to do your degree project in cooperation with one of our industrial partners, such as ABB, Ericsson and Volvo.
As a student in this programme, you also work closely with our doctoral students and researchers. Most of the courses in the programme are led by active researchers at MDH in primarily component- and model-based development, software processes and the development of reliable systems. In addition, about half of the degree projects are done within research projects.
Employment and Future Prospects
With a master’s degree in Software Engineering you have the knowledge which is required to develop high-quality software systems. Examples of professional roles are programmers, project managers and technical specialists. You are attractive in the labor market, both nationally and internationally, within both industry and research.
