About me - Maja Söderbäck
I am a pediatric nurse with a PhD in Health Care Sciences. My research interest is children's and families health and rights in health care.In my doctoral thesis I made ethnographic research about family participation. "Encountering parents. - Professional action styles among nurses in pediatric settings" (1999).
I am trained in International health as well and have been working as a guest post doc at the Health Care institute (ISCISA)in Maputo, Mozambique for three years. I continued with research about the nurses beliefs according to familie’s participation and the families experiences.
Right now I have a research project about children's rights in health care settings. Small children's participation in distressing situations is one study. One of my doctoral students is working with a project about children's way of acting in primary child health care settings.
An implementation work has been done in primary health care settings to increase the competence among health professionals to encounter sick children.
I am a member of the board in The Nordic association for children in health care (NOBAB) www.nobab.se
At the School of Health, Care and Social welfare I am working as a senior lecturer. My teaching is mostly on advanced level, where I am responsible for the education of Districts nurses.
