Academic Ceremony 2017
The Academic Ceremony will be celebrated, for the tenth time at MDH, on Friday 28 April 2017. The Ceremony is being arranged to honour the University’s new professors, doctors and honorary doctors. At the Ceremony this time, the University’s new Vice-Chancellor will also be installed. On the day before, 27 April, the new professors, the recipients of the Teaching Prize and the University’s new honorary doctors will give lectures.
At the Academic Ceremony 2017, doctoral degrees will be conferred on the University’s new doctors from the period between January 2015 and December 2016, and also the University’s three new honorary doctors. The professors who have been employed during the last two years will be inaugurated. In addition the recipients of the Teaching Prize and MDH’s Cooperation Medal, as well as the holder of the professorship in memory of Alva Myrdal will be honoured. The University’s new Vice-Chancellor Paul Pettersson will also be installed by the former Vice-Chancellor Karin Röding. All those who are interested are welcome to attend the Ceremony in the Concert Hall. Those who are specially invited are welcome to attend the subsequent banquet. The Ceremony will be held in the Concert Hall, Västerås on 28 April 2017 at 16.30. The audience are to have taken their seats by 16.15 at the latest.
On 27 April the new professors will give their inaugural lectures, and the recipients of the Teaching Prize and the University’s new honorary doctors will deliver lectures.
To become a new Doctor you must have defended your thesis before the end of 2016
Doctoral students wishing to take part in the conferment ceremony as a new doctor at the Academic Ceremony must have completed their third-cycle studies, successfully defended their thesis at a public defence, and also completed and registered all their courses before the end of the year preceding that in which the Academic Ceremony is to be held. This is in accordance with a decision by the Dean on 13 September 2012.
