About me – Valentina Zaccaria
I am an assistant professor within the SOFIA (Simulation and Optimization for Future Industrial Applications) research group in the Future Energy Center at Mälardalen University. My main research areas are control and diagnostics of gas turbine systems, modelling and control of advanced power systems, and cyber-physical systems applications in energy.
I obtained a PhD from University of Genoa, Italy, working on fuel cell gas turbine hybrid systems. I worked as Research Associate at the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, WV for three years. There, I focused on simulations and control of degrading fuel cell systems and cyber-physical systems for energy applications. During my PhD, I participated to an H2020 European Project on bio-fuelled fuel cell gas turbine hybrid systems. While at the University of Genoa, I also collaborated with Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Systems.
At MDH I am mainly working on the DIAGNOSIS project (funded by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation) on gas turbine diagnostics, and collaborating on the H2020 FUDIPO (Future DIrections for Process industry Optimization) project funded by the European Commission.
