About me – Mavroudis D. Kavvalos

I am a research assistant within the Future Energy Center. I am mainly working on compressor map modelling in the sub-idle operating regime within the DIAGNOSIS project, which is in collaboration with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery.

I received my MSc in Thermal Power from Cranfield University, UK, with first-class honours and my Dipl.-Ing. in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. During my postgraduate studies in Cranfield University, I gained research experience working on gas turbine aerodynamics and performance modelling as well as on rotorcraft interaction aerodynamics. I have also been involved in a civil aircraft engine design project from scratch, being in charge of the fan aerodynamic design and engine components integration. My early steps towards the field of gas turbines were made during my undergraduate studies, where I built a strong background in turbomachinery design and aeroacoustics.
