About me – Md Lokman Hosain
I am a doctoral student within the Future Energy Center at School of Business, Society and Engineering in Mälardalen University (MDH), Sweden. I am working in MR-OMDO project (Model Reduction for Online Multi-Disciplinary Optimization), primarily funded by KKS (Swedish Knowledge Foundation) and in cooperation with ABB, SSAB, Mälarenergi and Eskilstuna Energi & Miljö.
My research interests and focus
My main research interest is modelling and simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer in general. The main focus of my research is performing advanced simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer of various industrial processes and products. In my current research I am focusing on performing high fidelity 3D simulations of complex processes like industrial furnaces, boilers as well as industrial products like motors & generators, high voltage DC converters, etc. The goal is to analyze these processes and products numerically in detail to be able to improve the layout of complex processes such as the burner’s configuration in furnaces with the aim to reduce the energy consumption and improve the product quality. One of my key focus is to introduce and use particle based and meshless advanced CFD methods like smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) for simulating large industrial processes to enhance simulation speed. My focus is also to speedup numerical simulations by using high performance computing, e.g., GPGPU (General Purpose Graphic Processing Unit) and CPU (Central Processing Unit) supercomputers.

I am a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) engineer and received a Swedish licentiate degree in energy engineering from Mälardalen University (MDH), Sweden. Prior to that, I have received a master’s degree in scientific computing from Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden with a specialization in CFD. I have a bachelor degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently, I am working as a doctoral researcher at MDH as well as working as a R&D engineer within fluid flow & thermal management at ABB Corporate Research in Sweden.
