About me – Achref Rabhi
I am a doctoral student within the Future Energy Center (FEC) and SOFIA group at School of Business, Society and Engineering in Mälardalens University (MDH), Sweden. I am working on the DigiBoil research project (Development of computational fluid dynamic boiling heat transfer models with applicability to high heat flux), a project funded by KKS (Swedish Knowledge Foundation). This project is in partnership with ABB AB and Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB.
Education and background
I am a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) engineer graduated from the National Engineering School of Tunis, Tunisia, in 2015. I received in 2016 a Master of Science from the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (INP-Toulouse, ENSEEIHT) specialized on Fluid Dynamics, Energy and Heat Transfer. I am currently a doctoral student at MDH.
My research at MDH
The main topic of my research at MDH is generally the modeling and the numerical simulation of the heat transfer and the multi-phase flows. The main focus of my research project is the study and the modeling of the subcooled nucleate boiling flows in narrow channels. The objective of my work is the development of a new CFD based tool and models for the prediction of boiling heat transfer in narrow channels. This will enable the prediction of boiling heat transfer in complex systems and improve the understanding of the underlying physical phenomenon. The main objective of my research work is the development of a hybrid 1D and 3D simulation system using open source codes (OpenFOAM and OpenModelica) in order to address the thermal management design and to predict and optimize large and complex installations.
