About me – Aubrey Beckinghausen

I am a PhD student in Energy and Environmental Engineering at Future Energy Center, MDH.

My background

I received my Master’s of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus in Water Resources from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY in 2015, after completing my Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2013. Before moving to Sweden for my PhD I worked as a Plant/Process Engineer for Praxair, Inc. out of Loveland, CO for three years.

My research interests and focus areas

My research is focused on nutrient recovery from wastewater – specifically nitrogen recovery with the purpose of replacing mineral fertilizers for agriculture with the recovered solution. I plan to explore different techniques for nitrogen recovery that have promise for upscaling to be incorporated into current wastewater treatment facilities.
