Work with us

MDH is a dynamic workplace where as a member of staff you are the core and enrich the organisation. The University wishes to inspire its staff to an enterprising spirit and innovative thinking.

The University advocates diversity, where the staff’s background, experience, knowledge and personality are valued. MDH endeavours that you, as a member of staff, have a personal plan for your career development.

Collaboration is a part of MDH’s DNA and therefore the University, together with companies, county councils, municipalities and organisations, conduct hundreds of collaboration projects that lead to development. The goal is that MDH’s activities, through both education and research, will be of value and benefit to society. MDH’s motto is internationalisation, academic excellence and co-production.

One university, two cities

MDH has campuses at two cities, Eskilstuna and Västerås, which are easy to reach wherever you are. Both cities are situated in an expansive region with good communications. The Eskilstuna campus is just a five-minute walk from the central station. The walk to the Västerås campus from the central station takes around 15 minutes. If you’re travelling between the University’s two campus cities on business, you travel free with the bus, which goes from door to door.

Certified university

The University safeguards a good working environment. In 1999 MDH became environmentally certified as the first HEI (higher education institution) in the world, and in 2006 the University was also the first HEI in Sweden to become work environment certified.

Meet MDH’s staff

The university of opportunities

I started working at MDH in 2008. So far, no year has been like any other. From having worked with personnel issues I got the chance to be involved in designing a leadership programme in cooperation with teachers and researchers at all the four Schools at MDH. In the final stage of the programme, a doctoral studentship was advertised to research into the University as an organisation, and I was urged to apply. This was a big step, but not one that I’ve regretted. Being able to go between different areas, between Schools or between Schools and the Administration, is an opportunity to learn about and understand one’s own organisation. For me, MDH is the University of opportunities.

It’s here where I belong

When I moved back to Västerås after having lived in Stockholm it was self-evident for me to keep my eyes on MDH. It’s with higher education questions that I want to work and it’s quite simply here where I belong. I’m starting to become a higher education nerd…

Here I always meet positive people

I’ve got to know so many people during my years here at MDH. I have considerably more people in my life today and always have company for lunch at work. My impression is that I always meet positive people all the time, which warms my heart.
