Help if you have a disability
At the University Library there is help to be got so that students at MDH with a disability will be able to study on the same terms as others.
Audio books, listening to a text instead of reading it
If you have any form of disability entailing difficulties for you in reading a text, you have the right to borrow audio books, that is books that are recorded. Then you can listen to the text instead of reading it. The Swedish Agency for Accessible Media, MTM, is responsible for ensuring that there are audio books. You can download these in MTM’s Legimus catalogue.
Book an introduction to audio books
For you as a student at MDH; If you feel that you need extra support, you can book an introduction to audio books. Then the staff will for example go through how a download works and tell you how you can read the audio books with a reading program.
Here’s how you download audio books
- Contact the University Library to get help with creating an account in Legimus. At the same time you can get an introduction to how Legimus works.
- Log in to Legimus and download your books. You yourself can choose whether you want to download the books to your computer, mobile or tablet.
- If the book you want to borrow is not in Legimus you can contact the Library to get help with ordering the book.
- Even if you are studying by distance you can get access to audio books. In your Legimus account you can request a move to MDH, the Library in Eskilstuna or Västerås.
Is there some material that isn’t available in Legimus? If so you can order a new recording. You have the right to order a new recording of books that constitute compulsory literature for the course to which you have been admitted.
Compendiums, PDF documents and texts on the internet
If you need help with recording texts that are in compendiums, PDF documents or on the internet, you can use a program called TorTalk.
TorTalk is free if you are a student at MDH.
