Older adults and caregiving/ care-receiving relations - Family roles reshaped in societal changes. A comparative crosscultural vignettes study between Japan, South-Korea and Sweden

The aim of the vignette study is to explore how family roles and relations are affected when it comes to caregiving of the eldest generation. How are older adults and their next of kin navigating between the different actors on the field: public care, NGO´s and volunteers in the community? How are older adults´ self-determination upheld in this process? The lens through which this is studied comprise of care managers. The local authorities’ role is studied from a caring perspective in three different types of welfare regimes - Sweden, South Korea and Japan. All three regimes are ageing societies with an increased demand on care for older adults.
