The built environment is responsible for up to 24 percent of greenhouse gas emissions and accounts for 40 percent of the world’s total primary energy use. Goals and specific targets are set up globally to reduce the environmental impact of the built environment. Political statements and directives are already moving towards zero energy buildings.
PV systems play a significant role in this development, but a large portion of the potential for these systems in the built environment remains unused, in spite of the proven technology and ample examples of successful application.
