MDH students are in great demand from employers

The establishment rate for graduate students from MDH is among the highest in the country, according to a report by the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ). Nearly 9 out of 10 students have secured a good position on the labour market 1-1.5 years after graduating.

A total of 86 per cent of MDH graduates have established themselves on the labour market 1-1.5 years after graduation, according to the report from the UKÄ. Only the Royal Institute of Technology, Jönköping University and Linköping University have higher figures. For the degree groups including civil engineers and special education teachers, 97 per cent of graduate students from MDH have established themselves quickly in the labour market, closely followed by nurses at 91 per cent.

“We have a close collaboration with companies in the private and public sectors in the region which makes our courses and study programmes attractive to students and makes our students attractive in the labour market. The opportunity for employment is a big and important issue for everyone, and we are very pleased about these figures,” says Paul Pettersson, Vice-Chancellor of MDH.

It pays to graduate from university and get your academic qualification, the report from the Swedish Higher Education Authority shows. Among people who have not graduated, 66 per cent of women and 68 per cent of men were established on the labour market. This means a difference of about 17 percentage points compared with those who have graduated.

"Establishment is measured to show the balance between supply and demand for different higher education groups. This figure is proof that we have a relevant and popular offering of courses and programmes, but it can also be read from the report that most people with a university degree establish themselves relatively quickly on the labour market," says Dani Franjkovic, Communications Officer at MDH.

About the survey

The study, published at the end of 2019, was based on the establishment on the labour market 1-1.5 years after graduation for graduates at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels during the academic years 2012/13 to 2014/15.

The new figure among MDH graduate students is a two per cent increase compared with the previous survey from 2007/08 to 2011/12, which was then 84 per cent.

By establishment, the UKÄ relates to the graduate having a good position on the labour market, without periods of unemployment and above a certain income level.
