Michela Cozza elected among the new Council Members of EASST

Our Senior Lecturer in business administration, Michela Cozza, has been elected among the new Council Members of EASST - the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology.

The aim of EASST is to foster within Europe the scholarly study of science and technology including their historical development and their role in society. More specific aims include improving scholarly communication and exchange in the field, increasing the visibility of the subject to policy-makers and to the general public, and stimulating and supporting teaching on the subject at all levels.

- I am honoured to have the opportunity to represent the European STS community. I will be part of a wonderful team of international scholars with whom I will work to further fostering the study of science and technology within Europe, says Michela Cozza.

Michela Cozza holds a PhD in Information Systems and Organizations (University of Trento, Italy). In 2016, she moved to Mälardalen University and starting on 2021 she is head of subject in Organization and Management. Her current research projects focus on welfare technology and are aimed at studying the relationship between “the social” and “the material” with regard to the implications of digitalization on care practices.

She is member of the Nordic Research Network: Health and Welfare Technology aimed to consolidate knowledge, research, higher education and experiences in the field of health and welfare technology with a user perspective.

Michela Cozza is also a founding member of Socio-Gerontechnology Network that is meant to bring together international researchers with a variety of disciplinary backgrounds (including STS, critical and cultural gerontechnology, sociology, anthropology, age studies, design sciences and education) who share an interest in exploring the entanglements of ageing and technologies.

She is author of a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as of chapters, and conference proceedings. Her contributions are marked by interdisciplinary collaborations. Michela Cozza is co-author of the book Il genere nelle organizzazioni (2009) and author of the book Key Concepts in Science and Technology Studies (2020).
