Researchers at MDH will strengthen the industry by automating safety measures in large, complex systems, together with companies and universities around Europe. Something that will benefit the industry in many ways.

– The VeriDevOps project is about improving DevOps methods and tools to be able to get faster feedback when it comes to ensuring that the system meets the security requirements. By automating that process, the systems become more secure and can contribute to the continued improvement of development and operational processes in the industry, says Gunnar Widforss, project leader at MDH.

DevOps is a way of working in agile software development that is based on that the development team and the operational team collaborates throughout the software's life cycle. This means that the two teams work together to develop, operate, test, integrate and monitor the application in an automated flow. By automating as many steps as possible in the flow, industrial companies can achieve shorter lead times and at the same time reduce the risk of errors.

– With the help of the methods and tools we develop, the systems not only become safer, the work to maintain the security level also becomes cheaper and faster, says Gunnar Widforss.

Results that benefit industry in Europe

VeriDevOps is an EU project funded by the EU funding programme Horizon 2020. The project is conducted in four different countries and is a collaboration between MDH and Åbo Akademi University, ABB AB, Ikerlan S. Coop. and Fagor Arrasate S. Coop., Montimage EURL, and Softeam. The project will run for three years.

– We expect that our results will be applied to over 10 percent of all development and operational projects in industry in Europe by 2030. In addition, our results will facilitate the transition to smart industries, says Gunnar Widforss.

More about the project VeriDevOps

VeriDevOps is about fast, flexible system engineering that efficiently integrates development, delivery, and operations, thus aiming at quality deliveries with short cycle time to address ever evolving challenges.
