Carla Corda has studied at Mälardalen University and today works as a test engineer at the research & development department at Maquet Crititcal Care (CC) in Stockholm, Sweden.
About 99% of all computers today are embedded –they are found in cell phones, game consoles, digital cameras, car, airplanes, medical equipment,
home appliances, humanoid robots, etc. These systems are getting more and more intelligent to meet the specific needs of their users. Intelligent embedded systems belong to the future – do you want to learn how to design them?
We offer you a top-quality education in intelligent embedded systems, with world-known expert teachers, large industrial involvement, personal mentors and world-famous student projects. Our industrial partners, e.g., ABB, Volvo, Ericsson, assure the quality and industrial relevance of our education.
All course units contain both theory and practice. They provide the state-of-the-art theoretical knowledge in embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and robotics, humanoids as well as industrial robots. The practical part is organized as applied projects on real industrial equipment. As an example, we can mention the Dasher student project that uses embedded systems to develop the fastest running robot on Earth – a unique project that has become world-famous, with many newspapers covering its development. This year’s project, Luna Resort, is even more ambitious – to build a robot called Roony that will place a house on the Moon. Roony will be sent to the moon in a NASA space rocket in 2012, and it will find a stable vacant lot put a little read cottage on the moon as a symbol of what one man can achieve.
This program has eight industrial partners, all of them involved in the education through industrial projects for students, mentorship and guest lectures. You will be assigned a personal mentor from academia or industry that will guide you through entire education. There is also possibility, if you wish so, to take some courses abroad at our partner universities.
In 2008, the program was awarded a national grant for excellence by Swedish Foundation for Knowledge and Skills, and in 2009, the international Bayer Award for Excellence in Teaching.
This master program is hosted by the Division of Embedded Systems at Mälardalen University. The division is very research intensive and it has an internationally proved record of excellence in conducting high-quality research and a productive graduate training program. All research is performed in projects with specific goals with respect to achievements, publications, collaborations, and prototype tools.
We transfer our research results in our education. Most of the advanced level courses in the second year will cover state-of-the art research technique in embedded systems, and they will be taken jointly with the PhD students of the department. This will prepare you for a successful future career, both in industry and academia.
The market for intelligent embedded systems is enormous, and the
industry’s demand for high-skilled experts in these areas is constantly
increasing. Upon successful completion, you will be highly competitive on
the national and international job market, both in the industry as highskilled expert and in the academia as a researcher or prospective PhD
student.
After studies you will be able to make a career as e.g., engineer, project
leader, system architect, programmer or researcher in the fields of e.g.,
automotive industry, robotics, telecom, industrial process control, consumer electronic, etc.
