For the University and our students, the quality of our education and of the work we carry out is of great importance. This is why we continually strive to develop the University’s goals in terms of quality – not during limited periods, but all the time. To us, quality work means conscious and purposeful efforts to achieve improvement.
In March 2009, the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education evaluated the quality work of nine seats of learning, and Mälardalen University was the first seat ever to be awarded the highest grade. The Agency summed up its evaluation of our quality work as follows:
“Mälardalen University has implemented a well-developed and continuous quality work. The goals and efforts with regard to quality are well known within the organization, where a culture of good quality prevails. Goal-oriented work is carried out, with goals that are measurable and with a systematic follow-up. Resources are allocated for work with quality issues at Mälardalen University.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deans of Schools, Library and University Directors, as well as the various University Boards, are responsible for the quality work being done in accordance with the University’s principal goals and main policy documents. This means that quality work is carried out on several levels and of concern to everyone. Elvy Westlund, Dean of the School of Sustainable Development of Society and Technology, is the main coordinator of the quality work at Mälardalen University.
