Research at the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering is organized in the two research profiles Intelligent Embedded Systems and Innovation and Product Realization.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

Embedded systems is the most research-intensive profile at Mälardalen University and consists of two activities: Mälardalen Real-Time research Centre, MRTC and Intelligent Sensor Systems, ISS, 16 professors, 50 senior researchers (associate professors/senior lecturers) and nearly 60 graduate students and ten instructors works within this profile. The research school belongs to this research profile.

  • Mälardalen Real-Time Research Centre, MRTC
    Mälardalen Real-Time research Centre, MRTC, is the oldest and largest research profile in embedded systems. MRTC is a leading national research center for embedded systems, with main focus on embedded software.

  • Intelligent Sensor Systems, ISS
    Intelligent Sensor Systems, ISS, is a device that conducts research in the fields of artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, robotics and wireless communications. The research is applied and focuses on mobile intelligent sensor systems that support increased safety and efficiency in the industry, nursing, health care and sports medicine.

Innovation and product realization, IPR

, is a multidisciplinary research profile, with a unique combination of research on art and design, engineering, and innovation/entrepreneurship. The research is united in a common focus on Design Science. The goal is that through knowledge and collaboration to support the business to realize more ideas and more efficient development of new products and systems. The research school belongs to this research profile.
