Objectives
- Study of important parameters that influence the casting of thinner section in complex geometries.
- Development of casting technique for super alloys.
- Development of computer model based on experimental work for application in simulation work.
Current status
- Study of shell properties and its effect on internal shrinkage together with optimizing feeding system and heat flow pattern to achieve controlled solidification for alloy, for example , Udimet 500 with high solidification intervals is under investigation.
Planned activities
- Writing a research paper during next 3 months.
- “Controlled solidification of alloys with longer mushy zone to avoid shrinkage porosity”
