About me - Kerstin Erlandsson
My research interest has its foundation in many years of daily nuring and midwifery work in hospital settings. In hospital settings, separation between mother and child took place after complicated deliveries when the mother did not feel well or when the baby was transferred to a NICU. Routine separation of mother and baby occured after a cesarean section when the mother was transferred to the postoperative ward while the baby remined in the delivery or maternity unit with the father.
The title of my thesis is "Care of the newborn infant during maternal-infant separation. The father as primary caregiver immediately after birth and the mother's experiences of separation and later reunion with the infant" Thesis for doctoral degree (Ph.D) 2007.
Today I work as a senior lecturer at the midwifery-, and primary health care nursing program at Mälardalen University. In cooperation with the Department of woman and child health, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Parents and siblings situation after the loss of a stillborn child is investigated in a project led by Professor Ingela Rådestad.
