About me - Anna-Lena Almqvist

I work as a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the School of Health, Care and Social Welfare.

At Mälardalen University, I have been working with research and teaching since 2005. I am currently involved in  two research projects. The first is an interview-study  that is about national variation in men's parental leave take-up. The second is about children's experiences of empowerment and participation in the preschool environment. Here, the empirical data collection is based on focus group interviews and photo walks, where children took their own photos in the preschool environment.

After having completed my thesis in 2005,  I have taught in sociology, more specifically, methods and macro theory. After 2007, teaching has mainly taken place in the Social Work Programme in collaboration with Örebro University. Main teaching areas are methodology, family and work, family policy and welfare state theory. I also work with supervising essays at the Social Work Programme.
