Vice-Chancellor Karin Röding

Karin Röding is Mälardalen University’s vice-chancellor. From this position, she is leading the University’s operations. She is also a member of the University Board.

Vice-Chancellor Karin Röding

Karin was born in Malmö in 1955 but has lived in Stockholm since 1976. She also has got an apartament in Västerås. She is very interested in, and curious about, international affairs in general and social issues in particular.

- One step in the development of the University is to increase the direct funding of our research. This work has already begun and will continue under the slogan A Strong MDH (Ett Starkt MDH).

Karin has a master of political science and is a medical doctor as well as a registered dentist. Among other things, she has previously been the Head of the Division for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Research, as well as the University Director of Uppsala University. Her latest position was that of University Director at Karolinska Institutet.

- Education and quality are among the areas that I have had a big interest in and responsibility for over the years. My scientific interest is primarily in admission to higher education.

In addition to her new job as vice-chancellor, Karin has a number of other assignments. During the past few years, she has, among other things, become a trusted member of the boards of Halmstad University and Södertörn University. Since 2007, she has been an external member of the Danish Accreditation Council, and since 2009, she is also a board member of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.
