Health and Welfare
Research in the Health and Welfare area is multidisciplinary, integrating traditional topics in nursing and medicine with social and behavioral topics. Research is conducted in close cooperation with public and private sectors in the region and is based on the need for future skills.
In June 2011, Mälardalen University received degree-awarding powers for third-cycle studies within Health and Welfare. Such studies will be offered from 2012.
Internationally established research centers in the field include Life of the elderly in the society and care for the elderly, Women and children's health, Local public health work, Comparative welfare studies and evaluation. Today there are eight professors, 33 senior researchers and around 20 postgraduate students. The university is an active partner in the National Graduate School of care and collaborate in research training with national and international research environments and institutions.
