SOFIA research group
Welcome to Simulation and Optimization for Future Industrial Applications (SOFIA) research group. We are part of the Future Energy Centre (FEC) within EST (School of Business, Society, and Engineering) at MDH.
The Simulation and Optimization for Future Industrial Applications (SOFIA) research group was formed in 2016. It is the youngest yet largest research group within the FEC, focusing on research and development of advanced modelling approaches and measurement techniques for powerplants and the process industry. It comprises 2 full professors, 3 adjunct professors, 1 associate professor, 2 senior lecturers, 2 associate professors, 1 post-doc, 16 doctoral candidates (of which 9 within industry) and 1 laboratory technician.
The SOFIA research group focuses on:
- System modelling
- SPH and mesh-based CFD techniques
- NIR spectroscopy and RF soft-sensors
- Temperature measurements and gas analysis in industrial processes as well as power and propulsion applications
