Mälardalen University is located in central Sweden, in the expansive Mälardalen region. Communications to Sweden's capital Stockholm and Arlanda international airport are excellent; it takes only one hour by train to central Stockholm.

Mälardalen University is ideally located in central Sweden, close to everything, like airports and train routes, which makes it easy to come here from anywhere in the world.
It's also close to Sweden's beautiful capital Stockholm. Stockholm is often referred to as the Venice of the North, built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. It is also a modern city with a rich cultural life, architecture and shopping.
One of the things that international students usually mention when coming to Sweden is that there is so much space for everyone. Sweden is the third largest country in Western Europe, but still only 9 million people live here.
But of these, a total of 2.9 million people live within the Mälardalen region, over a million of them in the metropolitan region of Stockholm. For centuries this region has been Sweden's economic and political centre. The area contains a total of nine universities and nine of the ten companies in Sweden with the highest stock value. It has a well-developed infrastructure with high-speed rail links, through routes and four international airports. It also possesses modern electronic and telecommunication networks.
Mälardalen University has two campuses, in the twin cities of Eskilstuna and Västerås. In both cities, campuses are located within walking distance from the city centre.
Mälardalen University is also an integrated part of society, and we cooperate closely with companies like ABB, Volvo and Ericsson and the public sector to make sure our students are prepared for working life.
