Mälardalen University is a medium sized regional university. It has two campuses: one in the city of Västerås, located on the north side of lake Mälaren and the other one in Eskilstuna, on the south side of the lake, about 40 km apart. Both cities are situated in the very heart of Sweden, and 100 km to the west of Stockholm.
The campuses contain some of the most modern university buildings in Sweden, centrally situated with well-equipped classrooms, computer provision for students, libraries and laboratories.
The university has some 13,000 students and offers approximately 60 programs including 14 programs totally given in English and about 750 courses in around 50 disciplines. The subjects taught at the university range from engineering, natural, social and behavioural sciences, humanities to caring sciences.
