E-books

The University Library currently has two e-book providers: Ebrary and Dawsonera. There are also e-book collections freely available on the internet.

What is an e-book?

An e-book is a print book transfered in to electronic form. You can read it online on the computer screen or e-reader. It is possible to add notes to e-books, highlight text and create a virtual bookshelf. You can print out a few pages from the e-book, but not all of it.

How to find e-books via the library catalogue

Search for e-books in the same way you would search for a print book.

  1. Type a few words from the title, the author's name or a subject word in the search box
  2. Click "Search"
  3. Click a title in the hitlist marked "E-resource"
  4. Click the link "Fulltext" in the catalogue record

To get only electronic hits and exclude the print ones, add the word "e-books" to your search.

Type for example: "social theory e-books" or "operating systems e-books" in the search box.
